Project Description:

PT. Paragon Technology and Innovation, one of the leading cosmetic manufacturing companies in Indonesia that produces cosmetic brands such as Wardah, Emina, Make Over and others. PIT has proposed to do a collaboration project for in vitro penetration study to compare the penetration enhancing capacity of several penetration enhancers towards an active ingredient in a cosmetic formulation using Franz diffusion cell. The result of this in vitro study will provide a basis to cosmetic manufacturers to decide the most effective penetration enhancer for a certain active ingredient that is used. The principle of this study is based on the quantification of the active ingredient’s concentration that penetrates through a chosen model membrane over a period of time. The measurement will be done using a spectrophotometer UV-Vis. The cumulative amount of active ingredients penetrating over a period of time and the flux could be calculated and compared to conclude which penetration enhancer is the most optimum.
