The Health and Wellbeing Cluster unit focuses its research on two main areas.
The first main area of interest is to explore and unravel medicinal potential of compounds extracted from the vast collection of biodiversity Indonesia has to offer. This fundamental research will hopefully bring insights on novel Indonesian-based compounds for treating infectious disease and cancer.
The second is to develop novel therapeutic applications and technology for improving the health and wellbeing of the Indonesian population. We aim to solve local and national health problems with innovative research in hope to elevate health and wellbeing services for the Indonesian population.

The Food Innovation and Nutrition Cluster unit is established for not only innovating the way food is grown, processed and distributed, but also aiming at the understanding the nutritive functions of food on health and well-being.
Research activities in this unit focus on several key strategic areas, including but not limited to: Food Product Innovation, Functional Foods and Nutrigenomics, Food Quality Profiling and Nutrition and Lifestyle.
This focus aims to impart knowledge on technical (hands-on) or non-technical (soft skills) abilities to the community and groups regarding the development and innovation of food and how to further improve their quality.
This focus aims to address the relationship between food, nutrition, and health with the aim of improving the quality of life of the community.

The Sustainable Bio-products and Services Cluster unit focuses on industrial biotechnology, biotechnology for food and health, and environmental biotechnology. We aim to harness biological resources, develop a sustainable bioprocess, and provide goods and services for society to minimize the negative impact of human activity on the environment and promote human health and wellbeing.
We aim to explore Indonesia’s rich natural resources to explore and employ the capabilities of enzymes and microbes to develop functional foods, convert waste to products, and produce bioenergy and biomaterials, among others. Through our research program, we contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This research unit is to support all basic and applied research to better comprehend large datasets generated during the execution of the projects. Independently funded projects aim to map out the biodiversity of Indonesia, compute pharmacoinformatics data, curate medical databases, as well as implement comprehensive epidemiological studies. The main focus is to support and assist R&D at i3L and local industries.

Valorization in life sciences is part of the i3L School of Business that promotes the creation of economic value from the life sciences product focusing on the business point of view. Knowledge is better when it is applied to solve a problem and the components come from a holistic approach. The division has three clusters, such as (1) Business and Financial Management; (2) Digital Market and Corporate Governance; and (3) Innovation and Development Research.
Research on Business and Financial Management divided into two sub-clusters, which are:
1. Business Management
The research under sub-cluster Business Management involves the coordination and organization of business activities. It is a broad theme that can involve business and management aspects from each of the perspectives.
2. Financial Management
The research under sub-cluster Financial Management involves planning, directing, and controlling the financial activities. It is also concerned with the practice of handling a company’s finances in a way that allows it to be successful and compliant with regulations.
Research on Digital Market and Financial Management divided into two sub-cluster, which are:
1. Digital Market
The research under the sub-cluster Digital Market involves the advertising delivered through digital channels to promote brands and connect potential customers using the internet and other forms of digital communication (e.g. search engines, website, email, mobile apps, text messaging, and web-based advertising).
2. Corporate Governance
The research under the sub-cluster Corporate Governance involves the system of rules, practices and processes by which a company is directed and controlled.
Research on Innovation and Development Research divided into two sub-cluster, such as:
1. Business innovation
This sub-cluster introduces new processes, services or products to affect positive change in a business. It can include improving the existing methods or practices or even starting from scratch. The goal is to reinvigorate a business, creating new value and boosting growth and/or productivity.
2. Business development
Business development is the creation of long-term value for an organization from customer, markets, and relationships. It is also creating opportunities for that value to persist over the long-term, to keep the business running so that value can flow indefinitely.
