Project Description:
Soil is a complex habitat with a diversity of microorganisms as a source of genetic and metabolic diversity that needs to be explored. Therefore, the complex and dynamic nature of soils is a unique challenge in metagenomic applications. Metagenomics is an unculturable technology that allows access to new genetic resources from microbes that are not yet known and have the potential to produce bioactive compounds that can be applied to the health sector, for example. In this study, the metagenomic approach used soil samples from several districts in the Merauke Regency area. This study aims to provide information on microbial diversity from soil samples in several districts of Merauke Regency through a metagenomic approach and also to obtain bacterial candidates that have the potential to produce antiviral compounds based on the structure of their gene biosynthetic modules.
